The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation regularly supports initiatives and organizations dedicated to finding solutions for an environmentally sustainable future. Stelios has been a long-standing supporter of the WWF and today sits on the Council of Ambassadors for WWF-UK.  Similarly, Stelios is a founding board member of CYMEPA in Cyprus dedicated to promoting marine environment protection and awareness.

WWF

Stelios’ involvement in the WWF has been long and strong since helping to found WWF in Greece. Stelios continues to support the WWF in the UK, having recently been nominated to the organization’s Council of Ambassadors. He is also a member of WWF International’s 1001: A Nature Trust.

PRINCE ALBERT II FOUNDATION

The last five years the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation together with Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation hold an annual fundraising cocktail party in aid of the work of the WWF protecting endangered species.

CYMEPA

Stelios’ passionate commitment to the marine environment is manifested by his involvement with CYMEPA, an association he founded in 1992 and continues to support. Their efforts include raising awareness of the health and protection of the marine environment all around the island of Cyprus and developing programs which aim to educate members of the shipping industry, school-children and the general population of Cyprus.

Stelios Environmental Centre in Pedoulas

Pedoulas – birthplace of Stelios’ father, Loucas – the Stelios Environmental Centre in Pedoulas will welcome thousands of students from the island as well as international research teams to study the flora and fauna of the Troodos Mountain area to better understand this unique ecosystem and how to protect it.

The Stelios Environmental Centre in Pedoulas is the first of its kind on the island of Cyprus and is housed in the town’s former elementary school. On Oct. 20, 2010 Stelios made good on a pledge of 200,000EU to help fund the completion of the Centre.
