Award for Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Greece

The Awards, organized by Sir Stelios Haji-ioannou, are addressed exclusively to upcoming, young Greek entrepreneurs, younger than 40 years old (born in 1977 or later) that have created a company in Greece in the last 7 years with a minimum turnover of €10.000 per annum. Their business must employ at least two people and the entrepreneur must hold at least the 50% of the company. If the owners are two, they should own more than 80% of the company between them.

Stelios Award for Young Entrepreneur in Greece 2010 Winners

On November 23, 2010, Stelios Haji-Ioannou - founder of easyJet, Chairman of easyGroup and serial entrepreneur - announced the winner of the Stelios Haji-Ioannou Award for Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Greece - 2010.

The €50,000 prize, this year administered by the ALBA Business School in Athens, and presented by Stelios himself at the prestigious Kouros Awards ceremony sponsored by the Entrepreneurship Association of Athens was awarded to Dimitris Kolokotronis of Fasmetrics - a company offering innovative diagnostic testing services to detect harmful magnetic resonance in the built environment. With an impressive revenue stream to-date and substantial private and public contracts in the pipeline, Fasmetrics promises to be an example of forward-thinking entrepreneurship in Greece.

Young entrepreneurs short-listed in Greece!

6 entrepreneurs under the age of 40 have been identified - all vying for the Stelios Award for Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Greece - 2010. On November 23, 2010, Stelios Haji-Ioannou, founder of easyJet and serial entrepreneur will announce the winner of the €50,000 Award at an awards ceremony sponsored by the Entrepreneurs Club of Greece.

The prize, administrated by the ALBA Business School in Athens, is worth 50,000EU and will help to give the winners the funding they need to enable their business to grow.

Introduced to acclaim in 2008, the Stelios Award for Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Greece builds on Stelios' entrepreneurial drive and his desire to inspire other young, future business leaders in Greece.

While Greece has produced its share of business successes – think of the dynasties built up in shipping and trade – it is a country not often associated with entrepreneurship.
