2nd November 2010

6 entrepreneurs under the age of 40 have been identified - all vying for the Stelios Award for Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Greece - 2010. On November 23, 2010, Stelios Haji-Ioannou, founder of easyJet and serial entrepreneur will announce the winner of the €50,000 Award at an awards ceremony sponsored by the Entrepreneurs Club of Greece.

The prize, administrated by the ALBA Business School in Athens, is worth 50,000EU and will help to give the winners the funding they need to enable their business to grow.

While Greece has a proud history of business dynasties, it is less well known for small entrepreneurial businesses - particularly those entrepreneurs starting at any early age, as Stelios himself did with the founding of easyJet when he was 28 years old.

The 6 entrepreneurs short-listed for the Stelios Award for Young Entrepreneur of the Year - 2010 include:

Pavlos Skenteridis of Bioinsecta - providing natural alternatives to protecting agricultural crop from insect infestation

Dimitris Kolokotronis of Fasmetrics - researches and measures electro-magnetic radiation

Panagiota Vlachou of Fereikos Helix - offering development and support to the burgeoning snail-breeding community

Reveka Pitsika of People for Business - a human resources agency offering targeted customized services for its executive clients

Errica Prezerakou of Replayce - an innovative, alternative exercise system

Giorgos Chatzigeorgiou, Vassilis Dimos, Giorgos Avgoustidis of Scroutz.gr - an online price comparison site and e-shop

Commenting on the awards, Stelios said:
"In difficult times, it becomes even more important for promising entrepreneurs to have access to funding. When I was 28, I was fortunate enough to have my father's support when I set up my first entrepreneurial business. I want to provide that same support to today's young entrepreneurs."

"I've been very impressed at the standard and enthusiasm of these entrepreneurs and their applications - I'm confident that the €50,000 will be going to a good home."
