Stelios announces new Scholarships in Greece

easyJet founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou's was guest of honour at an event to mark his philanthropic foundation's support for a scholarship programme at Athens' Doukas high school. In return the school's head teacher Kostantinos Kuritsis (pictured) and alumnus society presented him with a commemorative award to mark the event.

The scholarship programme will be based on family need - combining total annual income of less than €30,000 with academic excellence as well as grades in the top class quintile. The new Stelios Scholars will be expected to maintain their grades consistently at this level throughout the 3-year scholarship period. Other conditions include restricted to new students who are EU citizens and resident in Greece with preference given to candidates pursuing an International Baccalaureate in order to continue a university education outside Greece.
