Rebecca Pitsika claims E50,000 prize in Stelios entrepreneur award 2012

The Stelios Haji-Ioannou Award for young entrepreneur of the year in Greece 2012 has been awarded to Rebecca Pitsika of People for Business. Stelios' support for entrepreneurship in Greece now tops 250.000€ over the past five years.

Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, in association with the Lesxi Epixeirimatikotitas Kouros Awards, has today announced the winner of the Stelios Haji-Ioannou Award for Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Greece 2012. In the past five years, Stelios has presented 250.000€ in cash to winning businesses in Greece, demonstrating his faith in the abilities and potential of young Greek entrepreneurs.

This year, the founder of easyJet, easyGroup and patron of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, awarded the 50.000€ prize to Rebecca Pitsika of People for Business. The company, based in Athens, is a dynamic HR consultancy providing specialized and exclusive placement services at senior and middle executive level, to many well-known Greek and multinational companies.

The company was selected by Sir Stelios for its consistent growth in profitability over the past 4 years and the achievement of its 2011 targets. Since the beginning of operations in 2007, People for Business has placed 752 professionals, facilitating this year positions for 147 people. People for Business offers holistic solutions in strategic human resources management for companies while proposing career alternatives to qualifying candidates.

Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou said:
"Today, in the difficult economic environment in Greece where many businessmen and executives choose to leave the country, I have chosen for the 5th year in a row to support the promising young entrepreneurs of Greece. The Stelios Award for Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Greece 2012 is in its fifth year and is aimed at young entrepreneurs who have maximized a unique business opportunity, taken a risk and have successfully developed their company.

In 2011 the award was won by Fereikos Helix, a company specialized in the snail farming business. In 2010 the award was won by Fasmetrics, while in 2009 and 2008 the award winners were Zoo.gr and Simply Burgers, respectively.
