Food From The Heart hits the 1 million mark hits the 1 million mark

1st April 2015

Sir Stelios' "Food From The Heart" program today clocked up the donation of its one millionth snack to people in need. Since the financial crisis engulfed the Mediterranean there has been a growing demand for help as unemployment has plunged thousands of families into difficulty. For the last 18 months, Food From The Heart has provided a daily lunchtime snack to all those who register with the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation - on "a no questions asked" basis.

There are now five distribution centres - one each in Athens and Nicosia with a further three in Limassol, handing out over 7000 snacks per day. From 30 March until 9 April each centre will be handing out a double snack per beneficiary as an Easter holiday gift.

Greece and Cyprus have both played a major part in the easyJet founder's life as his family hails from Cyprus while Sir Stelios himself was born and raised in Athens. His philanthropic foundation has made "giving back" a major responsibility, with several millions of pounds dedicated to education, enterprise and environmental initiatives.
