Food from the Heart to open a second Athens location

"Food from the heart", the poverty relief programme run by the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, has today announced the opening of a second distribution centre for lunchtime snacks at 26 Psarron Street, Piraeus, the port district of Athens. The growing economic crisis there has meant the existing centre in Keramikos has been handing out over 2700 free meals every day to families hit by the economic crisis.

Sir Stelios' "Food From The Heart" program today clocked up the donation of its one millionth snack to people in need. Since the financial crisis engulfed the Mediterranean there has been a growing demand for help as unemployment has plunged thousands of families into difficulty. For the last 18 months, Food From The Heart has provided a daily lunchtime snack to all those who register with the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation - on "a no questions asked" basis.

SIR STELIOS' SUPPORT FOR GREEK ENTREPRENEURSHIP TOPS €350.000 IN SEVEN YEARS

Last night Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou announced the winner of his Award for Young Entrepreneur of the Year in Greece – 2014, at the Kouros Awards ceremony hosted by Leshi Epiheirimatikotitas, at the Athenaeum Intercontinental Hotel.

The easyJet founder awarded the €50.000 cash prize to Nikolas Minoglou & Christina Martini, the entrepreneurs behind Ancient Greek Sandals. The company, which has its headquarters at Inofita, creates high quality leather handmade ancient sandals using the best raw materials.
