The winners of the 2018 Stelios Greek Awards for Young Entrepreneurs have been announced!

For yet another consecutive year the event ceremony was crowned with absolute success, offering 8 companies a total of 100,000 euros.

Among the 64 companies that have been nominated for this year's event, FERRYHOPPER.COM, Vassilis Lahanas, Panayiotis Sarafi and Christos Spatharakis, won the big prize of 30,000 euros.

This is an innovative search and booking platform for ferry tickets that - through different functions - turns the online ferry booking process into a simple and enjoyable experience.

In the framework of this year's event, seven other winners were declared winners, taking the amount of 10,000 euros each. These are:

  • Duck Private Cheffing, a company that focuses on Thessaloniki.
  • DigitalWise, a digital advertising and communications company.
  • Greeking.me, a travel service provider in Greece with an emphasis on authentic experiences.
  • Hempoilshop, exclusive distributor of organic / cannabis organic products
  • Lamda MAEVE, a company that manufactures ice creams and related products based on traditional recipes from Serres.
  • Park Around BV, an internet platform and a mobile parking application.
  • Wine Art SA, an online sales company of bottled drinks and delicatessen.


During the event, Sir Stelios Hadjiioannou said: "For the 11th year, young entrepreneurs in Greece prove that they are decisively contributing to the country's financial growth and development by investing in innovation, creativity and substantial effort.
Finding once again the high level of participation, I am very pleased that the institution we created over a decade ago continues to support companies with a healthy business plan, clear goals and the mood for creation and risk.
I would like to thank all those who participated in this year's event, and I sincerely wish my congratulations to the 8 winners for 2018 ".


The awards are exclusively addressed to young entrepreneurs in Greece , up to 40 years old (born in 1977 or later) and have started their business for the past 7 years, while also delivering a minimum turnover of 10,000 euros per year.

Their business must employ at least two people and the entrepreneur must own at least 50% of the business. If the owners of the company are more than two people, they should own more than 80% of their business.

Within the institution, a total of 24 enterprises have been awarded so far.

The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation offers 100.000 € to the Hellenic Red Cross

Sir Stellios Haji-Ioannou, founder of easyJet, the easyGroup group and the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, announces a € 100,000 offer to the Greek Red Cross, aiming at the relief of those affected by the devastating fires of 23 July 2018 in Attica.

The amount was deposited in the account created earlier today by the Hellenic Red Cross for the support of the affected :

(EUROBANK LABOR SA, Account No:0026.0240.31.0201181388, IBAN:GR6402602400000310201181388)

and marks the recognition of the remarkable work of the Hellenic Red Cross, who remains in the affected areas and works alongside the Greek state and local authorities with both its human resources and rescue equipment.

Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou said: "Taking into account the state of emergency in which the affected areas of Attica are and recognizing the important work that the Hellenic Red Cross has done throughout the past years , the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation moves swiftly and offers the significant amount, always aiming at the direct relief of our fellow human beings.''

Mr. Nikolaos B. Economopoulos, President of the Hellenic Red Cross, said: "We would like to thank Sir Stelios Hadjiioannou and the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation for the quick response to our increased needs. This offer is a strong ally in our effort to help the affected areas and we hope to be an example for other individuals and organizations who are interested in supporting us in our work. "

Stelios' donation to allow three students to study Baccalaureate course

In 1984 Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou graduated from Doukas High School in Athens, Greece before moving to study at the London School of Economics. Now the easyJet founder has given back €500k to fund three scholarships at the Doukas school over five years - (starting from 2015) in order to help underprivileged children from Athens (Stelios' birthplace) to get a better education.

The Food from the heart supports Mandra's residents through "Oloi mazi boroume"

ffthandoloimaziboroumeStelios Haji-Ioannou with the "Food from the heart" proceeds to a direct donation of 100,000 cookie bites to the Mandra - Idylia Municipality in order to support the victims of the recent catastrophic floods in Mandra and Western Attica. The donation will be done through the "Oloi mazi boroume" which has undertaken the initiative of collecting essentials for the region. Distribution has already begun and will take place over a period of 2 months.

The companies AGRO KNOW, ATHENS INSIDERS, CHIMERA, CHOUREAL, ELIXIR, RELEVANCE and SEΑ YOU SOON, were awarded the amount of €10.000 each
