Stelios Philanthropic Foundation raises funds for victims of Cyprus Disaster

Following the recent disaster in Cyprus, the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation has raised €5600 in honour of each victim which will be donated to their families:

spf_cyprus_disaster_leafletThe well-known entrepreneur Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou has begun a humanitarian campaign with the aim of raising funds for the families who lost loved-ones in the fatal 11th July explosion at Mari.

Expressing his sympathy Stelios, the founder of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation said:

“Like all of us who have close ties with Cyprus, I feel deeply affected by the tragedy, and I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives.”  

In an effort to support the families of the thirteen individuals who lost their lives in the accident, the entrepreneur, who is of Cypriot origin, will open special accounts at key banks for the deposit of relief funds. Through his philanthropic foundation, he will make an opening deposit of €50,000.

Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, founder of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation commented as follows on the recent tragic accident in Cyprus.

"Like everyone else with links to Cyprus I was deeply shocked by the explosion and my thoughts go to the families of the deceased.

I would like to express my deepest condolences.

Equally as someone who lives away from Cyprus I was a bit surprised how the matter became a "political" one and few people did anything to help the families who lost loved ones in this tragedy.

Winners announced for Stelios Awards for Business Cooperation in Cyprus 2010

Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, founder of easyJet and serial entrepreneur, today presented five entrepreneurs with EUR50,000 each for their work in promoting business cooperation in Cyprus at an awards ceremony at the Chateau Status restaurant in Nicosia's buffer zone.

Stelios short-lists 10 finalists for his award!

On October 20th 2010, Stelios will announce the five winning teams of the second annual Stelios Award for Business Cooperation in Cyprus - 2010 at an evening reception hosted by the Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot Chambers of Commerce. Members of the two chambers will hear Stelios speak on the importance of bi-communal trade in normalizing relations between the two communities as a lead-in to the exciting announcement of this year's winners of Stelios' Award.

The ten shortlisted entrepreneurial teams come from a range of disciplines, but all demonstrate island-wide entrepreneurial activity, and consist of at least one Greek-Cypriot and one Turkish-Cypriot partner. The shortlist for the Stelios Award for Business Cooperation in Cyprus - 2010 include:
