easyJet founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou has taken action to help alleviate the hardship arising from the current economic crisis in Cyprus. His food from the heart (FFTH) programme gives a helping hand to people in need - the poor, the hungry, the elderly as well as the disabled, the unemployed and those struggling on reduced incomes. The programme is operated on a strictly non-discriminatory basis and the only obligation of beneficiaries is to give their name, date of birth as well as a telephone number or email. (This is a requirement to eliminate fraud and ensure efficient stock ordering).

This prestigious competition is now in its fifth year under the sponsorship of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, the education-to-entrepreneurship charity headed by easyJet founder, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou.

Stelios honours one million euro promise for peace in Cyprus

Cypriot entrepreneurs from both sides of the island were out in force today (15 October) to see the fulfilment of a promise to give €1 million to select partnerships from the island's two business communities. Over the last four years each of 20 joint ventures comprising one Greek Cypriot and one Turkish Cypriot entrepreneur have received €50,000 each in cash – a total of €1 million pledged to peace on the island.

At a packed prize ceremony held at lunchtime at Limassol's Stelios House (a listed neoclassical building belonging to Stelios mother's family), finalists in the Stelios Award for Business Co-operation in Cyprus and other VIP guests witnessed the handing over of cheques worth €250,000 to this year's winners. Sponsored by the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, the education-to-entrepreneurship charity headed by easyGroup founder, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, the awards have become a major landmark in the Cyprus business calendar with a total of €1 million awarded as prize money since 2009.

Entrepreneurs line up for final stage of annual Stelios awards in Cyprus

Finalists have been selected for the last remaining stage of the Stelios Award for Business Co-operation in Cyprus - 2012. This prestigious €250,000 competition is now in its fourth year under the sponsorship of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, the education-to-entrepreneurship charity headed by easyJet founder, Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou.

The Award, aimed at promoting harmonious business partnerships between the island's Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot entrepreneurs, attracted close to 30 applications by the deadline for entry on August 31. The final stage involves in-depth assessment of the entrepreneurial partnerships by Stelios and his team before five winning partnerships are presented with a €50,000 cheque by Sir Stelios at a ceremony at the newly-minted Stelios House in Limassol on October 15. Teams must consist of at least one Greek-Cypriot and one Turkish-Cypriot entrepreneur working together for the benefit of the whole island.

Stelios announces new Cyprus networking event

Second Networking Evening announced for  20 June 2012 in Nicosia

The Stelios Philanthropic Foundation will be hosting a second Networking Evening aimed at bringing together Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot entrepreneurs for a high-level exchange of ideas and business dialogue in Nicosia on June 20.

This event, aimed at the island’s growing business community will help promote and attract entries to the 4th annual Stelios Award for Business Cooperation in Cyprus due to be held in September. The highly prized awards ceremony has had to be postponed from June due to a calendar clash with the Greek general elections.

Later this year, five entrepreneurial teams - comprising at least one Greek Cypriot and one Turkish Cypriot - will receive EUR50,000 each for their work in promoting business cooperation on the island of Cyprus.
