The British High Commissioner to Cyprus, Matthew Kidd (pictured left) visited the "food from the heart" HQ at Stelios House, Limassol yesterday. He complimented the staff working there and said the project deserved praise and recognition for its non-discriminatory approach to the island's welfare problem.

Stelios surprises food from the heart recipients

easyJet founder Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou surprised locals earlier today, when he made an unscheduled visit to the Limassol HQ of his charity to help with his "food from the heart" relief programme. During his visit he spoke with workers from his Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, handed out halloumi cheese and ham sandwiches to programme beneficiaries while expressing concern as they told him of their current hardships arising from the island's current economic crisis.

easyJet founder and serial entrepreneur Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou has announced the 2013 launch of the Stelios Award for Business Cooperation in Cyprus – now in its 5th year. His philanthropic foundation will reward ten dedicated entrepreneurial teams - comprising at least one Greek Cypriot and one Turkish Cypriot businessman or woman – with a 10,000 euro prize for their work in promoting business cooperation on the island.
