The number of contenders has doubled for the prize
The interest of Greek and Turkish Cypriots to participate in the 8th Stelios Bi-Communal Awards 2016 exceeded each precedent. This year, the number of contenders for the awards doubled reaching 215, which is a new participation record for Stelios Awards.
Submissions of applications now open via Facebook for Stelios Awards 2016

Stelios Philanthropic Foundation organizes for an eighth consecutive year the Stelios Bi-Communal Awards 2016 and submission of applications is now open through Facebook.
The total amount for this year's awards is greater than ever after Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou will be offering for the first time € 500.000, rewarding a total of 50 teams that can win €10.000 each, with a total amount of two million euros been awarded since 2009.
All forms of human cooperation between Greek-Cypriots and Turkish-Cypriots are eligible to apply through Facebook, including business, sciences, arts, sport, NGO work and life! The winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in October 2016 in Nicosia.
The deadline for application submission through Facebook is the 15th of July, 2016.

He stated: “we might today have the best chance ever for reunifying Cyprus, so we need to take advantage of the situation and we need to do our utmost because this situation is unique and this window of opportunity will not stay open forever”.

The UN Secretary General’s Special Adviser Espen Barth Eide was the special invited of the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation yesterday at the Bi-Communal Café in Nicosia. He was eager to answer all of our questions and explain to us why he thinks 2016 is a real social and economic opportunity for the island highlighting the importance of the Stelios Cyprus Bi-Communal Awards.
